INDIA, Gupta Empire. First Dynasty. Samudragupta, circa 335-380. Dinar (Gold, 19 mm, 7.49 g, 12 h). SAMUDRA (in Brahmi) Samudragupta standing front, head to left, sacrificing with his right hand over altar and holding rajanda (royal scepter) in his left; in field to upper left, Gadura standing facing. Rev. Ardoxsho enthroned facing, holding cornucopiae in her right hand and filleted investiture garland in her left; in field to upper left, tamgha. Kumar, p. 199, Class II, variety A. Nearly very fine.
